Condemning the shelling attack on a wedding party in Afghanistan which left at least 25 people killed and 45 injured Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for a probe to "bring the perpetrators to justice".
"The secretary-general condemns in the strongest terms the shelling that hit a wedding party in Helmand province Wednesday," Xinhua reported Friday quoting the UN chief in a a statement issued Thursday.
"The secretary-general urges the government to carry out a full investigation of the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice," it added.
The incident occurred in a village in the province's Sangin district, where Afghan security forces have been battling militants following the US forces' withdrawal from the area six months ago.
