Producer-distributor Dil Raju has snapped the theatrical rights of Telugu dubbed version of filmmaker Mani Ratnam's upcoming Tamil romantic drama "Kaatru Veliyidai", which stars Karthi in the lead.
"Producer Raju has acquired the rights of the Telugu dubbed version of 'Kaatru Veliyidai' for a fancy price. He had also bought the rights of Mani Ratnam's last outing 'Ok Kanmani' and released it in Telugu as 'Ok Bangaram'," a source told IANS.
The source revealed that producer Bandla Ganesh had originally planned to acquire the rights.
"Ganesh was ready to pay much more than what was quoted by original makers. However, since Ratnam had previously worked with Raju, and was happy with their association, he sold the rights to Raju," he said.
Also starring Aditi Rao Hydari, the film's music has been given by A.R Rahman.
While Karthi plays a pilot in the film, Aditi plays a doctor.
