Journalists will on Monday protest in New Delhi seeking justice for the family of scribe Jagendra Singh who was allegedly set on fire by policemen and the henchmen of Uttar Pradesh Minister Ram Murti Verma.

Officer bearers of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists told IANS that the protest at Jantar Mantar was against the Akhilesh Yadav government in the state. They accused the Samajwadi Party government of not against the minister.

The state government has suspended five policemen, but the top SP leadership has been defending the minister despite the fact that there is a video recording of the slain journalist where he holds the minister responsible for the attack.

Singh's family is on a hunger strike and has demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
