French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) said Brazilian defender Dani Alves underwent a surgery on his right knee in a hospital here.
"Dani Alves underwent surgery on his right knee at the Pitie-Salpetriere hospital in Paris, on Tuesday," the club announced in a statement, explaining about Alves' operation almost one month after its last statement on May 11.
"A delay before the operation was respected to allow a surgical technique that will enable Paris Saint-Germain's Brazil international defender to be back on the pitch as quickly as possible," it added.
Alves, who joined PSG last summer, injured his right knee in the French Cup final in May, thus being absent from the FIFA World Cup to kick off later this month in Russia.
