Paris Saint-Germain's Ivoirian defender Serge Aurier will stand trial on September 26 over charges of alleged violence against the authorities, French press reported on Tuesday.

Aurier, 23, was apprehended on Monday as he was leaving a nightclub next to the Champs Elysees Avenue in Paris, reports Efe.

The player was involved in an altercation with members of the anti-crime brigade, as he was leaving the club in his luxury vehicle with tinted windows and Belgian car plates.

According to France Info radio, a policeman testified that Aurier was defiant to the agent who stopped the car, before he pushed and punched the policeman.

However, RMC radio suggested that the player did not get physical with the policeman and claimed that he was injured while being apprehended before he was taken to the police station, where a complaint was filed against him.

The player has accused the agent of police violence.

The three people who were with the player in his car were summoned to testify and confirmed the player's version of the story, according to L'Equipe.

Aurier was sanctioned by PSG last February for a video posted on social media websites in which he insulted his coach Laurent Blanc and a number of his PSG peers.
