Authorities at Panjab University Friday announced an annual lecture in memory of famous botanist Professor S.R. Kashyap even as his daughter and famous actress of yesteryears, Kamini Kaushal, unveiled a plaque at the botany department which he had founded.

Recalling her memories of her father, Kamini Kaushal said that he was a Gandhian at heart even though he was honoured by the then British rulers. She pointed out that her father, who was a world-famous botanist, spoke nine languages and had a photographic memory.

PU Vice Chancellor Arun Grover said that Professor Kashyap not only contributed immensely to his field but also produced brilliant students like scientists Birbal Sahni, A.C. Joshi, M.S. Randhawa, P.N. Mehra and P.L. Anand.
