Rajmata Mohinder Kaur, the mother of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, passed away in Patiala city on Monday evening.
She was 94.
She breathed her last at the New Moti Bagh Palace in Patiala, 70 km from here. She was ailing for some time due to age-related problems.
The erstwhile Patiala royal remained active in politics in 1960s and 1970s as a Congress leader. She headed the District Congress Committee in Patiala.
She was elected to the Fourth Lok Sabha in the 1967 general election from Patiala seat.
Amarinder Singh, who was in Chandigarh, rushed to Patiala on hearing about her death.
