The Punjab government will commemorate the 350th foundation day of religious town Anandpur Sahib in June this year.

The town is home to Takht Keshgarh Sahib, the second most important Sikh shrine after 'Harmandar Sahib' (popularly known as Golden Temple), and is known as the birthplace of the Khalsa panth - the modern day Sikh religion.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who held a meeting here on Friday in this regard, said eminent personalities would be invited for the mega event.

The event is to be held from June 17-19 this year.

It was at Anandpur Sahib that the 10th Sikh guru, Gobind Singh, baptised the first five Sikhs and announced the birth of the Khalsa Panth on April 13, 1699.

Anandpur Sahib is about 85 km from here.
