Radia tapes case: Ratan Tata appears in Supreme Court

Former Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata Wednesday appeared in the Supreme Court seeking action against those who leaked tapes of his conversations with corporate lobbyist Niira Radia.

According to a statement issued by Tata Sons, the holding firms of Tata Group, Ratan Tata showed keen interest in the progress of the "right to privacy petition" filed by him.

"Mr Ratan Tata has filed this writ petition on a matter of principle. He believes privacy is an important right for every individual and is keenly following the progress of this case," a Tata Sons spokesperson said.

In the petition filed last December, Ratan Tata has sought action against those responsible for leaking of the tape of his conversations with Niira Radia. Tata has termed it an invasion of his privacy.
