Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Monday accused the BJP of being double-faced, alleging the party and its allies targeted people from Uttar Pradesh in Maharashtra but make promises of transforming UP during elections in the state.

Addressing a Lok Sabha election rally here, Gandhi also targeted the Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and alleged these parties have failed to deliver development in the state.

He said the Samajwadi Party, the BSP and the BJP, which have ruled Uttar Pradesh for over two decades, have failed to ensure proper roads and electricity in the state.

"They left behind issues of electricity and roads. The past 25 years were wasted," Gandhi said.

He also alleged workers of the BJP and the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra had targeted people from Uttar Pradesh, saying they have no place in the western state.

"They come here and say we will change Uttar Pradesh. They have one face there and another face here," he said.

Gandhi said the Congress wants to boost employment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
