Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's aide Kanishka Singh on Friday sent a legal notice to BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, asking him to tender an unconditional apology for his remarks regarding the AgustaWestland chopper deal or face criminal defamation suit.
Congress media coordinator Pranav Jha confirmed the development to IANS.
"In his legal notice, Kanishka Singh has asked Somaiya to tender an unconditional apology for making baseless allegations against him, failing which Singh will take recourse to criminal defamation," Jha said.
Somaiya had accused Kanishka of involvement in the AgustaWestland and the 2010 Commonwealth Games scams.
The BJP's Lok Sabha member from Mumbai had said that Kanishka Singh held shares in Emaar MGF Land Ltd., a real estate company that also had Guido Ralph Haschke, one of the accused in the AgustaWestland case, as its director.
