Protests and pitched battles between the police and workers of the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) marked the second day of Congress President Rahul Gandhi's visit to his parliamentary constituency Amethi.
While the Gandhi scion met party workers and locals at a "Janata Darbar" at the Munshiganj guest house, his outings elsewhere met with vocal resistance from locals and the BJP workers, who accused him of being the reason for the stagnation of Amethi.
There were protests at Musafirkhana after which police had to use force to chase away the mob.
The travel route of the cavalcade of the Congress President was also changed at the last minute and Gandhi undertook a march on foot till the Gauriganj square.
There was a skirmish between the BJP and Congress workers on the road between Amethi to Musafirkhana and the police resorted to mild cane charge to disperse the unruly crowd.
