Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu Monday flagged off eight new trains by remote control at a function here.
According to the railway ministry, these trains are part of the announcements made in the railway budget 2014-15.
"A total number of 22 new train services and one extension of existing train service will be implemented over a period of next ten days," the ministry said in a statement.
"Out of these 22 train services, eight trains were flagged off by the railway minister today (Monday) and remaining train services will be implemented in the course of next nine days," the statement added.
