In a bid to avoid accidents at railroad track crossings, the Indian Railways has constructed 239 road overbridges and 1,235 road under-bridges sanctioned in the past three years.
"The railways has completed the construction work of 239 road overbridges out of the 1,592 sanctioned in the last three years," Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.
He said that the construction of 126 road overbridges was complete while the 1,227 road overbridges were still under construction.
On the road under-bridges, Gohain said: "The ailways has completed the construction of the 1,235 road under-bridges out of the 6,065 in the last three years."
The minister added that 4,830 road under-bridges were still under construction.
