In a belated Eid gift to the Kashmir Valley, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Thursday promised a Vistadome train service in which Kashmiri cuisine 'wazwan' will be served.
Addressing a function at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex here, Prabhu said: "Tourists need to enjoy the beauty of the Kashmir Valley and the proposed train service will add to their delightful experience."
The minister said he had been speaking Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who was present at the event, about ways and means to increase tourist facilities in the Valley through railways.
"We will launch a Vistadome service here. We have placed an order with our coach factories," he said.
The function was organised for remote-controlled foundation stone laying of five new railway halt stations on the Baramulla-Qazigund rail section.
The Chief Minister requested another halting station at Batapora in Pulwama district, which Prabhu promised to consider.
