Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said that efforts are being made to bring the entire railway system on digital platform to reduce costs.
"Efforts are being made to bring entire railway system on integrated digital platform," Prabhu said at a press confernce here after launching the RailCloud, a virtual server with an inbuilt security system that will enable faster connectivity at a reduced cost.
The Railway Minister also launched the first application on RailCloud named 'Nivaran', which is a grievances redressal portal.
He pointed out that RailCloud is another step towards digitisation of the railways.
RailCloud has been developed by rail public sector unit (PSU) RailTel at an cost of about Rs 53 crore.

According to the Ministry of Railways, RailCloud has been equipped with security features as per the latest government guidelines. The security features can be updated in one go for all the applications hosted on the Cloud, resulting in enhanced security and stability with less expenditure and effort.
