Indian Railways would organise a two-day "Global Technology Conference" from Wednesday focusing on improving safety and reliability of the Indian railway network.
Talking to reporters here, Northern Railway General Manager R.K. Kulshrestha said that experts from 17 countries - including the US, China, Japan, Russia and South Africa - would participate in the event.
The conclave would also focus on capacity enhancement, congestion reduction and enhanced customer service, Kulshrestha said.
"Besides the knowledge take-aways, it is envisaged that the conference would enable the emergence of a multi-disciplinary logistics interface and eco-systems that would enable the Indian Railways to deliver new levels of value along with modernization," he added.
The two-day event would be inaugurated by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
