Cold conditions continued to prevail in Uttar Pradesh as many parts of the state received rainfall Friday as well.

Friday saw sunny afternoon giving some relief from cold, but evening witnessed heavy rains in many places, including the state capital.

The regional Met Office has predicted more rainfall in the coming days as low pressure depression is hovering over Rajasthan and Haryana, which will lead to drizzle in some areas.

J.P. Gupta, director of the regional Met Office said the weekend would be wet but from Monday the rainfall is likely to stop.

The maximum temperature here Friday was 19.3 degrees Celsius (three degrees below normal) and the lowest was 5.2 degrees Celsius (two notches below normal), said the weather official.

While most cities witnessed clear weather Saturday, outskirts and highways continued to be enveloped in dense fog, he said.

The Met Office has predicted heavy fog ahead.

The night temperatures dropped in Agra, Moradabad, Meerut and Gorakhpur.

Bijnor district's Nazeebabad was the coldest Friday night with the temperature dropping to 0.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the Northern Railway, over 20 trains were running late.

Flight timings were restored Friday, airport officials said. However, flights schedule on weekend would depend on the visibility at the runway.
