On the eve of Independence Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday participated in the state-sponsored 700-km-long human chain in Jaisalmer under 'Shahadat Ko Naman' programme.
The human chain was formed in the border cities of Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer and Barmer where people unfurled the national flag and paid tributes to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Raje offered rich tributes to the soldiers at the Jaisalmer War Museum. She also felicitated the wives of the martyred soldiers, their children and the officers decorated with Shaurya Chakra and other medals.
As per the 'Shahadat Ko Naman' programme, at 11 a.m., school and college students along with other citizens stood along the borders forming a human chain, said to be a unique initiative.
In Barmer, a military exhibition was organised where tanks and modern weapons were showcased.
