Spiritual guru Asaram Bapu would be questioned in Indore in Madhya Pradesh in an alleged sexual assault case and taken to Rajasthan only if found fit to travel, Rajasthan Police said Saturday.
Jodhpur Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Lamba told reporters that a Rajasthan Police team was in Indore to question Asaram Bapu at his Khandwa Road ashram.
"We are examining Asaram's medical report that was prepared by Bhopal medical college Friday. The report said that Asaram was not fit for questioning and travelling due to heart and neurological problems," said Lamba.
According to the officer, the spiritual guru would be taken to Jodhpur if he would be able to travel.
Asaram Bapu, 72, has been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of a minor girl. The spiritual guru has denied the allegation against him.
The victim's family has started a 24-hour hunger strike in Shahajahanpur in Uttar Pradesh demanding Asaram Bapu's immediate arrest.
