The desert state of Rajasthan continued to shiver in the grip of a cold wave Monday as dense fog affected normal life and led to delays in train services, officials said.

Mercury plummeted to a record low of 3.4 degrees Celsius in state capital Jaipur, while city of lakes Udaipur was cold at 3.2 degrees.

Churu was the coldest in the plains at 0.6 degrees, three degrees below normal.

Mount Abu, the only hill station in the state, was shivering at 0.5 degrees.

At least 16 trains were running late up to 14 hours. Two trains were cancelled, while departure timings of the Ajmer-Jammu Tawi Express and the Sri Ganganagar-Delhi Express were changed.

Sri Ganganagar recorded a low of 3.1, Alwar 2.5, Pali 3.8 and Pilani 4.4 degrees.

A weather official said the cold wave conditions would continue for a few more days, but the temperature may rise a bit in the next two days.
