There was no relief from chilly winds in the desert state of Rajasthan as the minimum temperature in most of the areas was 2-4 degree Celsius below normal.

Dense fog continued to derail both air and train services with at least 15 trains running behind schedule by 1 hour 45 minutes to over 15 hours. Some of the trains and flights in the morning were cancelled while some of the flights were delayed.

Pilani at 1.3 degree celsius was the coldest in the plains. Churu recorded a minimum temperature of 1.5 degree Celsius, 2 degree below normal.

Pali was shivering at 3.8 degree Celsius while Sri Ganganagar was cold at 4.8 degree Celsius.

State capital Jaipur was chilly at 5.7 degree Celsius and Bikaner was cold at 6.5 degree Celsius.

According to weather officials the state is likely to see temperatures hovering around present levels.

"Dense fog could occur at some places in north Rajasthan and ground frost at isolated places over north Rajasthan," a weather department official said.

Meanwhile, markets reported thin attendance after sunset as people preferred to stay indoors.

"It is better to remain in quilts then to shop in this chilly weather," said Meghna Mathur, a college student.

The state government with the help of some charitable trusts and NGOs has put up night shelters for the homeless in some areas of Jaipur.
