Rajiv Kumar, a 1984-batch IAS officer, on Friday assumed charge as the new Department of Financial Services (DFS) Secretary in place of Anjuly Chib Duggal after her retirement.
Kumar has wide administrative experience of more than 30 years in service, during which he held important assignments, including administrative postings in his home state of Jharkhand.
Before his latest appointment, he was Special Secretary and Establishment Officer, Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Personnel and Training.
He has worked in the central government in various capacities.
Kumar was posted as Joint Secretary and then Additional Sectretary, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, from March 19, 2012 to March 12, 2015.
