Local MP and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced on Tuesday a Rs.3,000 crore gift for the state capital in the form of a 100-km ring road.
On a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency, the former UP chief minister said that the union government had approved construction of the ring road which would go a long way in decongesting the traffic here.
He said that his cabinet colleague Nitin Gadkari had informed him of the approval vide a letter on Monday evening.
Speaking at an event here, he further informed that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had already begun work on preparing a detailed project report (DPR) of the ambitious project.
Appreciating the state government led by Akhilesh Yadav for being pro-development, Singh said he was hopeful that once the DPR was through, the follow up in land acquisition and construction work will be a smooth process.
