Rajnath, Gadkari lay foundation of outer ring road project in Lucknow

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also the Lucknow MP, laid the foundation stone of the ambitious Rs 5,000 outer ring road project for the state capital on Friday.

Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present on the occasion.

The civil cost for this project is Rs 2,555 crore and the 94-km-long road would be linked to the Sultanpur, Nagram, Rae Bareli, Kanpur, Mohan, Hardoi, Sitapur, Kursi and Dewa roads along with the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.

An official involved in the project told IANS that the outer ring road would have four big overbridges, 42 small overbridges, five railway overbridges, eight flyovers, 26 underpasses for vehicles, three underpasses for pedestrians, and two inter-change roads. The work will be completed in three years.

 

Both union ministers said that the Narendra Modi government was committed to improving the road network and infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.

Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, who represented the state government at the function thanked the central government of India for the major project for Lucknow and added that the state government would cooperate fully in execution of the ambitious project.
