Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir as unrest continues in the Valley.

The officials of various security agencies apprised the Home Minister on the prevailing

situation in the Valley and steps taken to restore peace and calm there, sources said.

Kashmir Valley has been in turmoil ever since Hizbul Mujahideen leader Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter by security forces on July 8. Over 65 people, including security personnel, have lost their lives and hundred others injured in the violence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have appealed to people in the Valley several time in the recent past to maintain peace and calm.

Earlier in the day, Modi told Jammu and Kashmir opposition parties that "there has to be a dialogue" to end the weeks-long unrest in the Valley but any solution to the problem will be "within the Constitution" of India.
