A two-day international conference on cooperative federalism will be inaugurated here on Wednesday by union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
The event will be the first of its kind in the country where cooperative federalism will be discussed on a global level, an official statement said.
It will be hosted by the home affairs ministry's Inter State Council Secretariat in collaboration with the Forum of Federations, United Nations Development Programme and the World Bank.
It will have sessions on themes like 'Institutions, Mechanisms and Processes to Facilitate Cooperative Federalism', 'Fiscal Federalism with a focus on Institutional and Legal Mechanisms' and on key social sectors namely 'Health and Education' and 'Horizontal and Vertical Cooperation on Internal Security and Crime' and 'Green Federalism', the statement said.
It will identify the best practices from other countries and come out with recommendations, including changes in the institutional mechanisms to foster cooperative federalism in the Indian context, the statement added.
