Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday said he will visit Maharashtra after Diwali to discuss government formation in the state.
"I am not going to Maharashtra today (Tuesday). Will go there after Diwali," he told reporters on the sidelines of an event to mark Police Commemoration Day here.
Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) stunning performance in the Maharashtra assembly polls, the party decided to send Rajnath Singh and party general secretary J.P. Nadda to Maharashtra to facilitate the process of selection of leader of the legislature party.
Singh attended the Police Commemoration Day parade here and offered tributes to martyrs from police forces.
"On Police Commemoration Day today I salute our brave policemen who laid down their lives on duty," he said.
Earlier, Nadda and Singh were to visit Maharashtra a day after the results of assembly elections. The elections were held Oct 15.
