Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die Friday on the last day of the last parliament session of the UPA-II government.

The upper house, which saw disruptions on every day of the second part of winter session, lost its question hour on the last day as well, even though the proceedings were more or less peaceful for the rest of the day.

The question hour was disrupted over protests over granting special financial package to backward states in the country.

Before adjourning the house till 12 noon, Chairman M. Hamid Ansari observed that the Question Hour has been converted into "grievances hour".

When the house reassembled at 12 noon, it took up discussion on the interim budget.

The upper house returned the interim budget and the finance bill for Delhi later.

The Rajya Sabha also passed the much awaited Whistle Blowers Protection bill, which has already been passed by the Lok Sabha.

The upper house also passed the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Amendment) Bill, 2011, simplifying the regulations for procuring and possessing narcotic drugs when used for medicinal purposes.

The upper house was adjourned sine die later by Ansari.
