Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission's vice president Swami Gitananda died at a private hospital here Friday following old age complications, a spokesman of the religious order said. He was 90.

Gitananda breathed his last at 9.10 a.m. Friday at the Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan.

He was hospitalised Feb 8 following chest congestion and pneumonia and septicemia.

"He was suffering from periodic illnesses over the past two years," the spokesman said.

The last rites would be performed Saturday afternoon at the order's global headquarters Belur Math in neighbouring Howrah district.
