Rape accused driver in judicial custody in forgery case

A court here Friday sent a taxi driver accused of raping a woman here to 14 days' judicial custody in a case of forgery of documents.

Shiv Kumar Yadav, the 32-year-old driver of banned online cab booking service Uber, allegedly raped a 25-year-old working woman in his cab Dec 5 while she was on her way home in north Delhi.

Metropolitan Magistrate Jagminder Singh sent Yadav to judicial custody till Jan 2, 2015 and declined the plea of Delhi Police which sought extension of his police custody.

Along with Yadav, Javneet Singh who allegedly assisted Yadav in procuring a fake character certificate, was also sent to judicial custody.

 

According to the police, Yadav had got an All India Tourist Permit after submitting the character certificate to the state transport authority in Burari here.

Police claimed that Singh had taken Rs. 2,000 from Yadav and had forged the character certificate with the seal of the Delhi Police and got it attested from a notary.
