Incidents of raping foreign nationals has brought a very bad name to India , a court here has said while sentencing two men to 30 years imprisonment for kidnapping raping a Ugandan woman.

"By choosing a foreign national as their target, they have shown that they do not care even for the respect and dignity of our country," said Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhat.

"Their act has brought our country also in disrepute in the eyes of the world. Incidents like the instant one brings a very bad name to the country itself."

Relying on the statements of victim, Judge Bhat sentenced Raj Kumar and Dinesh Sharma to 30 years rigorous imprisonment each after convicting them under various sections dealing with gangrape, kidnapping, assault for theft, criminal intimidation of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to prosecution, Kumar and Sharma kidnapped the woman in their car at Janakpuri in west Delhi on June 18, 2014 midnight and raped her.

The court also slapped them with a fine of Rs.50,000 each and directed that the amount shall be paid to the victim.

Observing the circumstances in which the crime was committed by the two convicts, the court said that it demonstrated that they knew that the house belonging to Raj Kumar's sister would be available to them for the night and hence they set out in a WagonR Car looking for a soft target upon whom they would satiate their sexual lust.

The two convicts were on the prowl like a hungry wolf and their eyes shone brightly on seeing the prosecutrix (victim), a lonely foreign national, on road at a late hour of the day, it noted.

"They (Kumar and Sharma) immediately swung into action by dragging her inside their car, took her to the house of Raj Kumar's sister where they raped her by taking turns and then dumped her near a Metro pillar early in the morning," the court said

"The manner in which the two convicts committed the crime shows that they are ferocious criminals with no concern for respect and dignity of a woman."

The order was delivered on Monday but released Tuesday.
