Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo looks almost certain to miss Wednesday's Champions League tie at home to Galatasaray after the club confirmed the muscle injury he picked up during Saturday's 5-0 win in Almeria.
Ronaldo had opened the scoring in the game, but was forced out early in the second half, immediately leaving the field after crossing the ball towards the Almeria area, Xinhua reported.
The club Monday confirmed that he was suffering "an injury in the back of his left thigh" but it refused to indicate just how long he will be sidelined for, saying that the injury is "pending evolution".
Ronaldo spoke briefly to the press after undergoing the tests. "I am all right," he said.
Ronaldo's goal in Almeria was his 17th league goal of the season and he has scored nine more than Barcelona's Leo Messi, who is currently sidelined with an injury of his own, which could keep him out of action until the New Year.
