The family of a Delhi-based realtor who was shot dead here late Wednesday, have blamed his wife and cousin for the murder, police said.

Real estate developer Mannu Walia, 40, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne attackers in Raj Nagar Extension area while travelling in his luxury car to Haridwar along with his wife Shalini Singh and cousin Vipul.

"As we received the information and rushed to the spot, we found the victim had six bullet wounds on his body. The locals told us that two young men on a motorcycle passed the fast-moving car, halted their bike, forced the driver to stop the car and pumped in bullets into the businessman. We took him to the hospital where doctors declared him dead," said Superintendent of Police (City) Ajay Pal.

On Thursday, the businessman's younger brother Alok Singh lodged a complaint with the Sihani Gate police station, alleging that Walia's wife and Vipul were behind the murder.

He noted that the attackers selectively shot his brother dead while Vipul, who was driving the car, was not attacked and Shalini sitting alongside her husband on the rear seat did not receive even a single injury.

"So it is deeply conspired case related to some huge property deal," alleged Alok Singh, adding that about a year ago an attempt to kill Walia was made in Baghpat district but he escaped.

"Complaint has been registered. Vipul has been detained for questioning while Shalini was admitted in the government hospital since she became unconscious after the incident. She has been shifted to some private hospital by family members. Police are investigating the case," added the police officer.
