Rekha M. Menon will be the new chairperson of Accenture's India subsidiary from August 21, the global software major said on Friday.

"Rekha will steer our India business growth and strengthen our presence in communities across the country," the company said in a statement here.

She is the US-based company's human resources managing director for growth markets, driving its human capital strategy for Asia-Pacific, West Asia, Africa, Russia, Turkey and Latin America.

"Rekha has immensely contributed to our people and her experience will be valuable to build our brand in India," Accenture chief executive Gianfranco Casati said in the statement.

Rekha replaces Avinash Vashista who was both chairman and managing director of Accenture India since 2011.

"Vashistha is leaving us to pursue entrepreneurial and corporate leadership opportunities in technology," Casati noted.

The $30 billion outsourcing firm also appointed Anindya Basu as the country's managing director from August 21.

"Basu will be responsible for driving our India business and building relationships with key clients by leveraging our capabilities in strategy, consulting, digital, technology and operations," the statement noted.

"As Anindya has demonstrated commitment to our clients and people, his experience, insights and vision will help our business grow and make a difference in the Indian market," Casati added.

As a global management consulting and technology services firm, Accenture has 336,000 people serving clients in 120 countries worldwide.
