Reliance Power on Monday said it has now fully commissioned its 3,960 MW Sasan ultra mega thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh, at a capital cost of Rs.17,000 crore.
"The sixth and last 660 MW unit of the Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) has been commissioned," Reliance Power said in a statement.
UMPP projects are of 4,000 MW capacity, while the one at Sasan is an integrated power plant-cum-coal mining project at a single location costing over Rs.27,000 crore.
Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher-Amlohri captive mines associated with the project.
With this unit, Reliance Power's generation capacity has increased to 5,945 MW, which includes 5,760 MW of thermal capacity and 185 MW of renewable energy-based capacity, the company said.
