Naples, Dec 6 (IANS/AKI) A figurine of Italian Premier Matteo Renzi appeared on Monday in a Naples nativity crib after he said would resign following his resounding defeat in the constitutional reforms referendum.
Renzi, wearing a suit and tie, holds a suitcase in one hand and a sign in the other saying "I've resigned!".
The Renzi figurine was crafted by Naples artisan Genny Di Virgilio for a nativity scene in the city's famed San Gregorio Armeno Christmas creche street, the TGCOM24 website reported.
Voters in southern Italy on Sunday overwhelmingly rejected Renzi's proposed reforms aimed at strengthening central government in what observers say was a protest at his failure to bring down unemployment and achieve strong growth since he took office in 2014.
The day after his stunning victory in the US presidential race on 8 November, a figurine of property magnate Donald Trump fashioned by Naples artisan Marco Ferrigno was added to a Christmas crib on San Gregorio Armeno
