Actor Riteish Deshmukh, who has started filming Ravi Jadhav's "Banjo" with actress Nargis Fakhri, revealed that the shooting of the film was supposed to begin in October 2015, but it got delayed as he had to grow his hair long for his role.

"Regarding the look it was Ravi Jadav's wish to do something different with the look. The character I play, which stays in a slum, has a unique style. So Krishika (Lulla) insisted that I should grow my hair long," Riteish said at the media interaction of "Banjo" here.

"We were about to start shooting last October, but was busy doing 'Housefull 3'. I had to push the shoot to have enough time to grow the hair and style it accordingly," he added.

The "Bangistan" actor is "excited" to be a part of the film as he feels that his "character is quite unique."

"I am really excited to do the film as this character is quite unique. Every day when I come to shoot I feel eagerness to work. It keeps me feel live on set," he added.

Talking about his co-actor Nargis, the 37-year-old said she was "tailor-made" for the film.

"Nargis fits the role perfectly and is doing a brilliant job. Nargis, who plays the role of a young woman from US visiting India, is apt for the character because of her accent," he said.

The actor also revealed that he had learnt Hawaiian guitar in his childhood and knows how to play "Banjo". The film's music has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Directed by Ravi Jadhav, "Banjo" also stars actor Luke Kenny, who played one of the four key characters in the 2008 film "Rock On!!".

"Banjo" will be produced by Eros International.
