The opposition RJD reconstituted its National Executive on Wednesday, removing jailed former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin from the body, and also appointed RJD chief Lalu Prasad's wife Rabri Devi as party National Vice-President.

According to party leaders here, the new National Executive has been constituted following directives from Lalu Prasad, currently lodged in Ranchi jail after conviction in another fodder scam case.

The new Rashtriya Janata Dal National Executive has new faces like Lalu Prasad's sons -- Tejashwi Yadav, who is Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, and Tej Pratap, a former Health Minister.

Lalu's elder daughter Misa Bharti, a member of the Rajya Sabha, is also on the National Executive.

"Shahabuddin has been ousted from the national executive but his wife Heena Sahab has been included," the RJD leader said.

In 2016, the RJD included Shahabuddin in the National Executive, after which the then opposition Bharatiya Janata Party raised a hue and cry.
