Italian capital Rome on Monday officially presented the logo for its bid to host the 2024 Olympics.

The logo features the Colosseum -- Rome's ancient stone amphitheatre -- in the red, white and green of the Italian flag which fades into a running track, reports Xinhua.

"The logo for the 2024 Olympics is red, white and green because this is not a bid of Rome but of Italy," Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) president Giovanni Malago said at a ceremony held here.

"As the world of sport, we need to involve the whole country... We must unite everybody together because teamwork is essential," he added.

"Rome wants to organise the most beautiful Olympics of the 2000s, and has all what is needed to achieve it -- culture, beauty, technology and youth," bid leader Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said.

He highlighted that Rome wants to create a "great festival of sport" and "bring here the greatest champions of the world," putting athletes at the centre.

The Italian capital, which hosted the 1960 Olympics, is among four bidders for the 2024 Olympics, including Budapest, Los Angeles and Paris. Hamburg recently withdrew from the race after falling short in a public referendum.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is set to select the venue for the 2024 Olympics in September 2017.
