Three motorbike-riding men Thursday shot at a guard of a cash van and looted Rs.10 lakh from the vehicle, police said. The money was later recovered.
Rampal, around 35 years of age, was deployed as the guard of a cash van of a private bank. He was shot at by the three unidentified men, while the bank staff were replenishing cash at an ATM booth near the main gate of Maruti Suzuki's Gurgaon plant.
Later, the cash box robbed from the van was recovered from a road near Palam Vihar area.
"One of the locks of the box was broken while the other was safe. The men may have left behind the cash fearing police action," a police officer said.
The injured guard was admitted to hospital.
