The CBI has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for anyone providing information in connection with the murder of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh, police said on Wednesday.

Posters in Hindi have been pasted at different places in Bihar capital Patna and elsewhere in the state wherein the Central Bureau of Investigation has appealed to the people to help it crack the murder case by providing information, police said.

"The CBI has assured informants that his or her identity will not be revealed."

The central agency has been probing the case since 2013 but failed to crack it.

Earlier, the Bihar Police filed a charge sheet against six persons in the murder case.

Brahmeshwar Singh was shot dead in Ara town on June 1 while on a morning walk. He founded the Ranvir Sena, a private militia of the so-called upper castes, which was accused of many caste killings, mostly of the poorest of the poor Dalits.
