The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon on Friday after Congress members created a ruckus over the role of Goa Governor Mridula Sinha in formation of the new government in the state.
Soon after the house met for the day, Congress member Digvijaya Singh raised the issue and demanded a discussion on the role of the governor.
Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien said role of the governor can be discussed only after a substantive notice is given.
Soon after, the Congress members trooped near the Chairman's podium and shouted slogans like "Murder of democracy won't be allowed".
As the din continued, Kurien adjourned the house till 12 noon.
Despite Congress being the single largest party, the governor invited Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) by former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to form the government.
