Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said on Friday he believed there would be attempts to strip Russia of the right to host the 2018 football World Cup, but they would be futile.
"I do know that there will be certain attempts," Tass quoted Mutko, who is also the president of the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the chair of Russia-2018 Local Organizing Committee (LOC).
"However, I am not afraid of them (attempts), since I am confident there are no grounds to strip us of the right to host the World Cup."
