The Kremlin on Tuesday slammed US President Donald Trump's national security strategy, calling it of "imperial nature".
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the "mentions of Russia demonstrated the imperial nature of the document" and showed "an aversion to a multi-polar world", Sputnik news agency reported.
On Monday, Trump called Russia and China "revisionist powers" who "want to shape a world antithetical to US values and interests". But he said that Washington was ready to cooperate with Moscow in areas of common interest.
Peskov stated that Russia cannot accept that it is treated as a threat to US security. He, however, lauded the positive aspects of the document, such as Washington's willingness to cooperate with Russia in areas of common interest.
China had also criticised Trump's security plan and called upon the US to "abandon its Cold War mentality".
