Russia urges probe into military flights at MH17 crash site

Moscow, Sep 29 (IANS/ITAR -TASS) Russia has submitted a list of recommendations to the UN on the investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 in Ukraine in July, including an analysis of military aircraft movements in the area.

The recommendations, given in a letter signed by Russia's representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin, were released on the UN's website Monday.

The letter envisages 10 tasks of priorities, including analysis of military aircraft movements in the area of the armed conflict in the east of Ukraine and the area of the crash site and obtaining and checking information from the Ukrainian side about planned or already launched missiles for training and combat purposes.

 

Flight MH17, a Boeing 777, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur July 17, crashed in the Donetsk region of Ukraine with 280 passengers and 15 crewmembers on board.

Among the passengers, 196 people were Dutch citizens.

A final report of the investigation into the crash is due to be presented next summer.
