Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar was on Friday roped in as the brand ambassador of the 'Skill India' campaign by the ministry for skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE).
The master blaster said the campaign was an opportunity for the nation to make full use of its young population.
Commenting on Tendulkar's association with the campaign, MSDE minister of state Rajiv Pratap Rudy said: "Sachin is one of the greatest Indian stories of our times and someone who resonates the best with skills. He is a true global icon and brand that served the game of cricket through his skill sets and inspired generations."
Tendulkar said: "When I was approached for endorsing 'Skill India', I realised it was an important component in one's personal growth that needs to be valued and mastered."
"We are a young nation and we have the potential in us. We just need to learn a skill that is driven by our passion and turn it into an opportunity. Skill India is a big opportunity extended to all."
'Skill India' campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to help train over 40 crore people in India in different skills.
