The BJP on Tuesday sought the immediate sacking of Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar for furnishing a "fake" provisional certificate of his law degree.
"The law minister of the state (Delhi) has been found with a fake certificate. The people who propagate value-based politics, their law minister has been found to have a fake certificate," BJP MP from Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi told the media here.
A Bihar-based university from where Tomar claimed to be have obtained his law degree had told the Delhi High Court on Monday that his provisional certificate was not "genuine" and the document "does not exist in the university's record".
Lekhi questioned how Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was allowing Tomar to continue in office. "He should be sacked".
"Not only his position, but his election itself is null and void," she said adding "he (Tomar) should be punished and sent to jail.
"The truth of the political outfit which he represents is now being unveiled. People of the capital must be wondering whom they have voted for," she said.
