The 4-6, 3-6 loss of German Angelique Kerber in the final White Group match against Czech Lucie Safarova qualified Petra Kvitova for the semi-finals of the $7 million Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals here on Friday.
Kvitova, double Wimbledon champion, lost against Spanish Garbiñe Muguruza, unbeaten leader of the White Group, but the outcome of the duel between Kerber and Safarova handed her a place in the semi-finals, reports Efe.
Second seed Muguruza will meet Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska in the semi-final while Russian Maria Sharapova, leader of the Red Group, will play against Kvitova.
