With innovative rides and a variety of food and beverage items, officials at the newly-opened Oysters water park here are ensuring that utmost safety, security and hygiene make the experience wholesome, enjoyable and memorable for its patrons.
Nearly 30 years after having conceptualised and established India's first amusement park, International Amusement Limited launched the first phase of its landmark property in Appu Ghar Gurgaon by unveiling Oysters July 10.
It has already attracted over 10,000 guests ever since, and the officials are happy generating smiles galore.
"In our industry, profitability is measured in smiles and not in currency. Therefore, we were profitable as soon as we opened our gates to our visitors and they opened their hearts to us," Narendra Surana, director, International Amusement Ltd, told IANS in an email interview.
In 2008, Delhi's much loved and remembered amusement park Appu Ghar at Pragati Maidan, was closed down.

"When we closed down at Pragati Maidan, it was disheartening for all of us here. A void was created and which was later rectified with our two offerings in Noida and Rohini in the form of Worlds of Wonder and Adventure Island," said Surana.
But he is most upbeat about Oysters, a rainforest-themed park spread across 10 acres and offering 15 signature rides.
There's 'Oh My Gurgaon', a thrilling ride where visitors will be dropped from a launch chamber into a 45-degree loop with water gushing at 60 kmph; Sky Fall, a 90-ft water slide; and Wave Pool, simulating artificial sea waves besides other attractions like Rapid Racers, Lazy and Crazy River, Typhoon Tunnel, and Pirate Station.
Considering that accidents have happened at amusement parks in the past, how has safety been ensured at Oysters?
"The Appu Ghar Group sources almost all its rides for the parks from the leading coaster and ride manufacturers across the globe such as Water Water West, Arihant, Moser and Zamperla. Maintenance of these rides is done adhering to the international standards of safety by credible agencies.
"Routine inspections are conducted on a daily basis with regular weekly and monthly follow-ups. Annual independent audits are also performed to ensure the most stringent safety measures are being maintained," said Surana.
Since it's a water park, most men and women may be seen roaming around in their swimwear.
How do they tackle cases of eve-teasing, if any?
"The security staff is instructed and have the rights given to throw out such offenders from the park without listening to anyone. Thankfully, we have not received even a single complaint like this," Surana said.
They have employed over 30 security guards and bouncers, who have undergone training to prevent such situations.
This apart, hygiene is a prime concern for the officials, and so, if you're planning to head to Oysters for a dip, make sure to carry your own swimwear.
"Since we are very much concerned about maintaining hygiene within the park, therefore, for the first time we are only selling costumes at reasonable price range for guests to buy. Renting facility is not available. Guests can bring their costumes, provided they are Nylon or Lycra material," Surana said.
